In
the photo below: the stone altar, where there are the images of bull.
All
the area near the mountain Sinai is the Holy ground (Ex.3:5).
Rock in Horeb,
from which Moses get water for people.
“Behold,
I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou
shalt smite the
rock, and there shall come water out of it that the people
may drink. And Moses
did so in the sight of the elders of Israel”
(Ex.17:6).
On
the western part of the mountain circuit, on the opposite part from
the sacred
area, on a hill there is the rock Rephidim tall of five or
six-floor building.
This
rock is cracked in the middle, and at its bottom there are the
traces from water
channels, which at one time went from the cleft.
There
is no scientific explanation to this phenomenon. The traces
of water corrosion
on stone are obvious. However, the exclusiveness
of the location of the ancient
source and the circumstance that there
are no other water sources, gives the
reason to consider the rock as
that from which God gave water to the thirsty
people.
