To Adventists: Food for Thoughts

Aliens  vs. demons

45. To Adventists: Food for thoughts

I had chosen the Adventist church not because the church is the “remnant”, not because the church has “spirit of prophecy”, not because of the books of E.White. I had chosen it because the church keeps the commandments of God, teaches the principle of sanctification which is the preparation for Kingdom of Heaven, because Adventist people sincere await the Second coming.

However, as it was shown above the remnant is not only Adventist church, and even not any one of existing churches today. As a matter a fact, the Remnant is not even a church at all. It is people who keep commandments of God and believe in Jesus. They are the remnant because they  will appear after the Second coming (see ch.16): please, read again Isa.4:2,3, or Zeph.3:8,9,11-13. You see, Bible clear says that.

I do not believe that only Adventist church has the Spirit of prophecy either. I do not believe that E.White was the Spirit of Prophecy, as it spoken in "27 Fundamental SDA Doctrines"(p.221): "So the expression the Spirit of prophecy can refer to...the medium of prophecy itself"; and as many Adventist preach: “Read your Bible and Spirit of prophecy”, “The Spirit of prophecy said in “Great Controversy””….

Bible says that “The Testimony of Jesus is Spirit of prophecy” (Rev.19:10). His Testimony is the Gospel, the good news about His soon coming. John told that he was sent on island Patmos for the testimony of Jesus (Rev.1:9,2.See also 1Cor.1:6,2:1; Rev.6:9; 1 John 5:10,11). He was sent to there for the spreading of the Gospel, not for some prophet. Bible does not say that the Spirit belongs to any particular church. Any Christian of any denomination, who faithfully awaiting for His Coming has the Spirit of Prophecy. A person can have the Spirit of Prophecy but can not be it. Bible says: "thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus. The Testimony of Jesus is Spirit of prophecy" (Rev.19:10). The Spirit is Gospel, that is why Ellen White can not be called the Spirit of Prophecy. She had it, as all devoted Christians have, but she wasn't it.

Adventist sincere believe that only Adventist church has its own prophet that is why the church is so unique. If in Ellen White's time people in her church could argue was she a prophet or not, today this kind of arguing accepted as an apostasy inside of the church.

" 27 SDA Doctrines" states: "the founders of the church developed fundamental beliefs through  study of the Bible; they did not receive these doctrines through the visions of Ellen White" (p.227). So, is that a coincidence that all the beliefs (all of them) are described in Ellen White's books as her visions?

In "Fundamental Beliefs" (http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html
n.18 it is stated: "As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction".

I always thought the authoritative source of truth in the true church of God is the Bible, and only Bible provides instruction, and correction. How can we be sure that E.White's works can be trusted as Bible? Bible says we should "prove all things" (1Thes.5:21).

John said: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world" (1John 4:1).
If I will tell you that I'm the prophet of God, how will you understand that is not true?
How will you understand that the antichrist will be the false prophet?
Will you trust in his sincere words also as you trust in E.White's words?
Whether a sincerity can be the indicator of the truth?
How we can differ a true prophet from a false one?

"When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously"(Deu 18:22);
"And when this cometh to pass,... then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them" (Ezek 33:33).

From the presented material you were able to see that Ellen White did not have visions describing the Second coming of the Lord, because of uncounted contradictions with the Bible. Thus, she did not see Satan on empty earth, didn't see the investigated judgment, didn't see the mark of the beast, didn't see first and second resurrection, didn't see New Jerusalem on the old earth and ctr. However in the preface to "Great Controversy" there she stated: "As the Spirit of God has opened to my mind the great truth of his Word, and the scenes of the past and the future, I have been bidden to make known to others what has thus been revealed.."

E.White sincerely believed, that, as to the prophet of God, all truth of  the Bible was opened to her, and who was disagreed with her in these matters , was accused by her of spiritual blindness (2SM 112.1), thoughtlessness (2SM 112.3), stepping away from the right paths (2SM112.4). She spoke, that everyone, who considers, that he has other  understanding of prophecies, not as E.White taught, is not right, for God has not given him a new understanding, because the true understanding already was given through her (2SM114.3). She sincerely considered, that God has appointed her to judge, if a person is right or not in his or her opinions: “I have uttered reproofs because the Lord has given me words of reproof…for the Church” (The Remnant Church: Its Organization, Authority, Unity, and Triumph,p.6). Therefore she bravely gave verdicts to those  who tried to prove that she was mistaken: «I am commissioned of the Lord to say to you …The Lord does not lay upon you a burden to proclaim a message” (2SM 115.1). “It is not the Lord’s will that this matter should be brought before His people” (2SM 115.2).

However the church's upper echelon knows that E.White's works contain many mistakes and contradictions. Many of them were deleted in following editions of her books. Some works were not reprinted again because of that. Many of  her health advises "inspired by God" look even ridiculous in our time (that the using of cosmetics leads to a premature death, that the wearing of wigs and hear pads leads to horrible disease and death and ctr.).

Paul had encouraged those who accepted no writings or sayings  on bare faith, but checked whether or not they are Scriptural: " These were more noble ..., in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so » (Acts 17:11). However, the church's leadership, even seeing the contradictions with the Bible in E.White's works, still continues to teach, that all of her visions (together with those contradictions) were received directly from God (?!).

"But even if we , or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed" (Gal.1:9). "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isa.8:20).

Paul taught that Jesus entered Holy Holiest right after His ascension to heaven. Ellen White taught that He did it 18 centuries later. Bible said that Satan will be placed in abyss after the Second coming, E.White taught that he will stay on the earth. Apostles taught that every believer can be sure in his salvation through his faith in Jesus, E.White taught that nobody can be sure about it. Apostles taught that for salvation a person needs only believe in Christ and love people. E.White taught that if person eats unclean food and breaks the Sabbath that person can not be saved.

"The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart" ( Jer.14:14, 23:16, 30-32).

"Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!" (Ezek.13:3).

Who needs it, to cling to the false title "Remnant" and all the time bend over backwards  to prove to all world, that we have own prophet? Due to its "prophet" SDA church has received already 4 out of 5 points of  a cult organization. Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist pastors and denomination workers have left the Seventh-day Adventist church and many continue to leave because of the unbiblical doctrines of the church. Instead of blaming and isolating those people may be it is the time for the church to make a some order inside of itself.

Probably it is the time to recognize, that Ellen White was just a founder of the church, a honorable  Christian, who all her life worked for the boon of the church. Despite of her false predictions. Despite of the fact that many pages of her works were actually borrowed from other authors and were submitted as  her own visions from  God. She still  sincerely believed, that she received visions from  God.  Why?

According to researches of Dr. Molleurus Couperus, retired physician and founding Editor of Spectrum magazine , the very serious trauma of the  temporal lobe of her brain, which she received in the age of 9 (as result: three weeks in coma, many weeks in bed, nose deformities, an inability to breathe through her nose for
2 years, two fruitless attempts to continue her education after the recovering),  was quite possible the reason of her visions, which were nothing other, than sound and visual hallucinations
of post trauma seizure. As a very religious person with a bright imagination, her hallucinations were always religious and bright  (http://www.ellenwhite.org/egw79.htm   http://www.ellenwhite.org/headinjury.htm). The given medical conclusion explains E.White's sincere belief in her prophetical gift at its obvious absence. ). The given medical conclusion explains E.White's sincere belief in her prophetical gift at its obvious absence.

We can not belittle Ellen White's great works, which inspired many people to accept Jesus. We just need to see Bible above of her works always. She was not the prophet. Is that a tragedy? These church doctrines about the Spirit of prophecy, the remnant haven't done anything good, but lead to exclusiveness and pride of church members (another Latter Days Saints?). Some people in the church are so proud to be Adventists, to be chosen people, that they easy fall to this trap and forget, that to love your neighbor as yourself is most important thing. And rest,  such as vegetarian diets, prayers above the food, even the attending the church on Saturdays are the secondary.

E.White's teachings were all centralized around the Sabbath. Jesus's teachings were all centralized around Love.

Ellen White taught: " I saw the Holy Sabbath is, and will be, the separating wall between the true Israel of God and unbelievers" (Early Writings,p.85). So, are all Christians of other denominations the unbelievers?  We live on the very edge of the present history of humankind. There is no time left to demonstrate the others how we are differ from them (because of the day of worship and our own "prophet") and draw people from another denominations to our church, it is time to go to real unbelievers.

Jesus told that His church will be recognized not by the day of worship, but by love "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). It is what the church is lack of. Is that because the lack of love in the writings of the church founder? The only book, which as many Adventists believe, is written by E.White and teaches love  is "Steps to Christ", and that book wasn't even written by her (http://www.truthorfables.com/steps_to_christ.htm ).

I have received many letters from Adventists, who without even taking a look at my work, proudly had poured out a bunch of dirt on me  only because I have told, that Е.White was wrong. Those people consider themselves as "remnant", chosen people of God, when actually they demonstrate a behavior of lost people. Bible says: "He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now" (1John 2:9).

A church is not just a some business, it is God's house. Everything must be clean before God in there. "Only the truth can stand the tests of investigations". If the church has  wrong doctrines they have to be changed. Then the church will be considered above traditions and will be considered as an unique church, because it capable to recognize its mistakes.

And until then Adventist church can not be considered as the true church of God.
